The enameled layer just simplifies that process. Do not put this in te dishwasher. The lid sits evenly so it keeps the heat in for maximum retention. From Soup, sauce to stew if you make Bread( the new rage) this will be great. The adorable pot holders included are a bonus. This is heavy, it is cast iron. Heat maximum of 500 degrees. If you want to gift someone something they would love this is the item and if you get lucky and catch a sale. It is worth it. Enjoying every moment of this pot.

This is a great 5 quart Dutch oven that is white and blue with a printed flowery design on it. We are able to cook our stews without any issues. The food came out very tasty with even cooking throughout the pot. It's also easy to clean in the kitchen sink or in the dishwasher if we wanted to. I like that it comes with oven mitts and an insulating mat so we can store the hot pot on our countertop without any fear of burning our counters. The Dutch oven pot is oven safe up to 500�� which is more than enough for our needs. I think it's reasonably priced at $55 because it is a quality cast-iron pot with lid and accessories. We like it.
